Travelling back from Finland I had the opportunity to explore some old haunts on the South Downs in near Lewes and remember a lot of what makes them awesome. With my Dad I found autumn lady's tresses and frog orchids (the latter well past their best), both of which were the first I'd seen at this site. Plenty of butterflies were on the wing including chalkhill and adonis blues, and perhaps best of all migrant birds included 9 spotted flycatchers along with a redstart and a fine selection of warblers.
